The /s/ sound

This is a tricky sound. Developmentally students should be able to say this sound by the age of 5. One of the most common errors is the distortion of the /s/. This may be produced with your tongue coming forward or with what we may call a lisp. If your student has difficulty with this sound, make sure he or she is not sucking a thumb or pacifier and that they keep hands out of the mouth.
